Enter and View: Ward C18, New Cross Hospital
Healthwatch Wolverhampton receive feedback on a range of services and treatments received at New Cross Hospital. This was an unannounced Enter and View visit to observe the ward in action as Healthwatch Wolverhampton had received some negative patient experiences related to dignity and discharge.
Summary of Findings
Ward C18 is located on the first floor of New Cross Hospital and was easily accessible via lift access. All patients engaged with felt safe on the ward and that staff treated them with respect and compassion. Recommendations made:
- Ensure that patients are made aware of the staff uniforms and what each one means.
- Introduce or make patients aware of the ward matron.
- Ensure that the catering team are preparing food to suit the needs of the patients on the ward.
- Ensure all patients are aware of the complaint’s procedure, should they ever need to use it.
- Ensure all patients are regularly engaged with to reduced loneliness and isolation.
